How it works
- Where does the data come from?
- The official registry RDAP service for the domain's extension (from the IANA list) is queried first; if there is no RDAP, the registry's official WHOIS server is used. Nothing is guessed; if the registry doesn't publish a field, the reason is shown. Results are cached for 30 minutes.
- How to use it
- Type a domain (e.g. example.com) and run the lookup; you don't need http://, www or a path. The result appears within seconds and the page URL can be shared.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is domain age calculated?
Domain age is the time elapsed since the original creation date in the registry record. If the registry does not share this date, the age is not calculated.
Does a domain's age reset when it changes hands?
No. A transfer or change of owner does not change the registration date; if the domain is deleted and registered again, a new registration date is created.
