Redirect Checker

Look up a domain and the results will appear here.

How it works

Where does the data come from?
A real HTTP request is sent to the site; the status code and response headers are read and redirects are followed for up to 10 hops. Technology detection relies only on evidence seen in the response. Results are cached for 10 minutes.
How to use it
Type a domain (e.g. example.com) and run the lookup; you don't need http://, www or a path. The result appears within seconds and the page URL can be shared.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a 301 and a 302 redirect?

A 301 is a permanent redirect and a 302 a temporary one. With a permanent redirect, search engines pass ranking signals to the new address.

Are many redirects a problem?

Each redirect delays page loading. Ideally, the http → https and www redirects should happen in a single step.
