Data collected

When you run a lookup, Whoisera stores only the query metadata: the domain looked up, the lookup type (WHOIS, DNS, SSL, IP), the interface language, the outcome of the lookup (success/error) and the time. Your IP address is not stored in plain text; it is converted into an irreversible hash to prevent abuse.

Lookup results

WHOIS, RDAP, DNS and SSL results are not permanently stored in the database. For performance, they are kept briefly (for up to 30 minutes) in a server cache.

Cookies

A language cookie is used to remember your language preference. The contact form creates a session cookie for security (CSRF) purposes. If the site administrator has enabled analytics or advertising services, those services may use their own cookies.

Data sources

Lookup results are retrieved from the official registry RDAP/WHOIS services of the domain extension, from DNS servers and from the domain's own certificate. The accuracy of this data is the responsibility of the respective sources.

Contact form

The name, email address, subject and message you send through the contact form are stored in our database so that we can reply to your request, follow up on support and manage the history of our correspondence. A notification of the new message may also be sent to our contact email address. Your IP address is not stored in plain text; an irreversible hash value may be kept to prevent abuse.
